Croatia. How to describe it. So beautiful, slightly rough around the edges as far as the buildings are concerned. Trogir is an UNESCO world heritage site dating from 6 or 7 hundred AD. It is on a teeny, tiny island and the city completely covers the island. We live in an apartment about 15 minutes bus ride from the city centre on another island called Ciovo. We have the most wonderful view across the Adriatic Sea to the modern part of Split. Trogir is a lacework of tiny streets in which you get immediately lost. The buildings are mostly from the time when Trogir was part of the vast Venetian empire. Internet is not easy to come by here so we will blog when we can. Excellent food is very easy to come by. Sheelagh had the best grilled calamari and George's mixed meat platter will keep him happy for a few days. The people are so friendly. While waiting at the bus stop, Sheelagh had quite the conversation with an elderly lady, all in Croatian. She really thought she was understanding everything until the bus didn't turn up at 5:00!
