It was strange to be on dry land yesterday, and to have to feed ourselves. We slept in a bit and then took care of some errands that we had. One was getting rid of our biggest, heaviest suitcase. A thrift shop for animals in need was the recipient of our formal clothes and suitcase.
We walked down into the town centre and back along the front. Eastbourne has the reputation of being, "posh". There lots of very large, Victorian, houses. Prior to, and between, the wars, Londoners liked to send their children here to the seaside for fresh air and an education. Many schools were built here among the houses, several right here on the street on which we are staying. Here and there are sprinklings of newer buildings that have gone in to replace buildings that were bombed during the war.
We went down into the village and there, the streets were very busy by Canadian standards. The vast majority of the shoppers are elderly couples and singles. The city does have the reputation of being, "God's waiting room".
Food, especially meat, is very expensive by Alberta standards.

We are staying with Sheelagh's cousin and her family. They are very busy with two sporting boys out most evenings to games or practices.
There is also really good theatre here. We would be broke if we lived here. We saw a very good production of, "Stepping Out" last night
