And so to England.

We made it. At what seemed to be a very early hour, we were awakened to have breakfast this morning. It was all done very politely, but also very firmly. We were now the last group and they were making preparations for the new group and would we please move along. They were very efficient and we moved smoothly along from breakfast, to clearing out of our rooms, to waiting in the Queens Room to disembarkation. We found our bags and took a cab to the Southampton train station. The prebooked train system is brilliant. We got our tickets from the machine and were told that, in fact, we did not have to wait for the train that the ticket was for, but could go on any train to our destination. As a result, we were in Eastbourne before we were originally meant to leave Southampton.
As we waited to disembark, we watched the astounding amount of provisions for the crossing to New York, which left this afternoon, being loaded by the Southampton longshoremen. It was fascinating. There were 11 forklifts performing a forklift ballet in front of our eyes.
Tomorrow we explore Eastbourne. See you then.
