Colourful costumes, loud island music and loads of energy. That's Island Day in Edmonton. We started the day with Liam and the girls tapping on our window to see if Grandad wanted to go down with them to get bagels. Yes,was the answer, so off we went and back home in a flash. Shush and I had a quieter breakfast and then went down to the city market for supplies. Tragedy, no pie lady was to be seen. We brought the meat and veggies home and then met the crew at the Y. We went on down to have a quick look at the art galleries, (some really nice stuff), before zipping back to see the parade.
As I said, it was loud and colourful and lots of fun, even though Janelle declared it, "The weirdest thing we had ever taken her to." Ngila wouldn't be dragged away before the last float had inched its way past our seats in the middle of the street. Sheelagh pointed out that there appeared to be a lot of, "Island wannabes", in the parade, some rather ancient ones.
Home for a bit then we had the honour of supping with our grandaughters and putting them to bed. Liam and Janelle had a well deserved evening to themselves. A great day it was.
